Chertsey: Man charged with rape and murder after death of girl aged 2

A man has been charged with murder after the body of a two-year-old girl was found at an address in Chertsey.
Officers were called to an address on Pyrcroft Road at around 17:40 BST on Thursday following reports of safety concerns.
Kevin Kerjean, 31, is also accused of raping and sexually assaulting a child under 13 and will appear at Guildford Crown Court on Monday.
Surrey Police previously said the girl was three years old.
The investigation into the death is ongoing and police said they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.
Kerjean was stated by the police to be a French citizen born in the Central African Republic.
Det Ch Supt Jon Groenen said: “This is a tragic incident and our thoughts are with the boy’s family and everyone who knew him.
“Our teams are working hard to build a picture of what happened and there will remain a significant police presence on Pyrcroft Road for the coming days,” he added.
On Thursday, several bouquets of flowers were left at the entrance of Syward Place, an apartment complex located at the corner of Pyrcroft Road and Bell Bridge Road.
“We recognize that the incident itself and the significant police presence will be concerning for residents,” Groenen said.
“We thank them for their cooperation in conducting our investigation.”
