Chaos broke out at the Christmas tree blitz event, where 300 young people allegedly rioted and many were shot. The riot in Chicago broke out minutes after the city’s official Christmas tree lights were turned on in Millennium Park, and seven teenagers, including a 13-year-old boy, were shot during the massacre.

Local police said all the teenagers were between the ages of 13 and 17, and the shooting outside the Chicago Theater occurred just before 10 p.m. Alderman Hopkins, a local representative, claims that one of the teenagers who was shot in the chest is in critical condition. He also claimed that several police officers were injured after they were attacked by rioting youths.

Linda Dixon was leaving the theater when she saw police swarming the area. Speaking to CBS News, the actor added: “We walk out of the movie theater and everyone starts running. We almost got run over in the street because everyone was running from here to there. I’m not exactly sure what happened.”

“It’s so disheartening to see, you know? It’s holiday time, everyone wants to celebrate and enjoy the night and something like that happens.”

The riots and shootings occurred during a busy evening in the Windy City, when both the Christmas lights were turned on and the first night of the Christmas Market took place on the same night.
