Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu unveils Green Hydrogen Valley declaration

Prime Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu released the Declaration of the Andhra Pradesh Green Hydrogen Valley-2025 on Monday, July 21, with the aim of creating a 5 GW electrolysis manufacturer production capacity until 2029.

The Prime Minister announced that the state government would reveal the declaration of the state government during the last Green Hydrogen Summit at the University of SRM in Aaravati. The state government aimed to position Andhra Pradesh as a pioneer in the field of green hydrogen innovation and sustainable industrial transformation.

The declaration, which was published jointly by senior government officials, global industry leaders, scientists and policy makers, summarized India’s largest ecosystem for green hydrogen production, research and application. The policy anchored to the state’s abundant renewable energy potential and long coastline aims to make Andhra Pradesh a very important center in India’s green economy.

There are four main objectives in the center of the declaration – encouraging global partnerships and governance models to accelerate the production and infrastructure of green hydrogen, to promote domestic production and innovation, to improve technical and research capacity and to ensure sustainable development.

The main objectives determined within the scope of the Declaration include the establishment of 5 GW electrolysis production capacity by 2029 and the production of 1.50 million metric tons (MMTPA) green hydrogen production per year. The state also aims to reduce the cost of green hydrogen, which is supported by the development of 25 GW Green Energy Corridor for the transmission, between 460 and 160-170 until the same year.

A central pole of the declaration is to create a local supply chain with 60% of the electrors components and storage solutions to be produced locally by 2030. At least three production units will be established to support this effort.

The Green Hydrogen Valley will also receive 2,000 expert training per year to the Ecosystem of the first integrated green hydrogen skill ecosystem of India. It will be put aside to support the 50 Start-Up, which focuses on the development of high-strength carbon fiber and hydrogen storage cylinders of advanced materials.

Research and Development will be anchored to SRM University-AP, where the latest test facilities and cooperation platforms are determined as the Nodal Agency of the State. Annual peaks will follow progress and encourage exchange of information between stakeholders. India’s official partnerships under the national green hydrogen mission of India, and the Declaration emphasizes Andhra Pradesh’s commitment to global climate targets and energy security.

A multi -betting Green Hydrogen Valley Advisory Board will be established to determine the best technologies for the production of green hydrogen and its derivatives, test facilities and storage facilities.
