Helicopter crash in Huntington Beach hospitalizes 5 people: officials

Five people were hospitalized in a brutal scene captured on video after a helicopter crash in Huntington Beach, California, on Saturday, authorities confirmed to Fox News Digital.
Law enforcement responded around 2 p.m. to reports of a helicopter crashing in the beach parking lot between Twin Dolphins Drive and Beach Boulevard in Huntington Beach.
Officials said the plane, which was seen suddenly spinning out of control before falling from the sky in the striking video, was connected to the “Cars ‘N Copters on the Coast” event planned for Sunday.
A spokesperson for the Huntington Beach Fire Department told Fox News Digital: “As of now, two people in the helicopter have been safely removed from the wreckage and three people on the street were injured.”

All five people were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, the spokesman said.

According to a press release from the City of Huntington Beach, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) were notified of the incident.

Huntington Beach resident Tim Robinson, who witnessed the crash, took a video of the scene that showed the helicopter wedged between a building and several palm trees.
“At first I thought it was a movie,” Robinson told Fox News Digital. “It seemed like a pretty crazy trick to do. He turned around a few times and hit her. It was crazy.”

Robinson told Fox News Digital that he walks on the beach almost every day and sees part of the helicopter “flying” before it crashes.

He added: “As I was coming down low I heard some kind of pinging noise and a piece of it flew out of the helicopter. I don’t know what it was. I have no idea. It exploded and that’s when it started going out of control.”
