Child abuser sentencing further reveals disturbing sanctuary state pattern: whistleblower

A former Massachusetts shelter director-turned-whistleblower calls the sentencing of another illegal alien for raping a child at a taxpayer-funded shelter as evidence of the “failure of the entire government” in the sanctuary state.

Haitian illegal alien Cory Alvarez, 27, was convicted of aggravated rape of a child at an immigrant shelter in Rockland, Massachusetts, and sentenced to 10 to 12 years in prison. NBC 10Boston.

Alvarez was arrested in 2024 by Rockland police on suspicion of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old female victim. Both Alvarez and the victim were living in a government-run shelter at the Comfort Inn.

Alvarez was arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers in August. According to the agency, he entered the country legally in 2023 but violated the terms of admission, meaning he was in the country illegally.

In response, Fetherston, who runs a similar immigrant shelter in Marlborough, Massachusetts, from 2023 to 2024, said Alvarez’s sentence “reveals a much larger problem.”

“Whatever you say, but this is a complete failure of government,” he said. “You have documented cases where these girls were attacked in shelters operated with taxpayer dollars. No one at the top, including Governor Maura Healey, is taking responsibility for this.”

Fetherston had previously reported “widespread” sexual abuse of children in the Massachusetts-run shelter system.

Speaking to Fox News Digital in February, he detailed the case of another illegal Haitian alien, Ronald Joseph, who raped and impregnated his own 14-year-old daughter at the Marlborough shelter. Fetherston said that when she and authorities confronted Joseph about the rape, he became agitated and threatened her. Despite the seriousness of the crime, Fetherston said he was instructed to take Joseph to another state-run shelter.

Joseph was not arrested until months later. He has since been sentenced to 12 to 15 years in prison for aggravated rape of a child.

Fetherston said these two cases were not isolated incidents, but rather part of a disturbing pattern of child sexual abuse that went largely unpunished.

“The state did not protect these children, and you have no moral authority to run these programs when you do not protect children,” he said, adding: “If you are not going to protect children, you should not be in office.”

Earlier this year a Healey spokesperson said: Boston Herald He said the governor “inherited a housing system disaster” and that “it was Healey who took action to impose length-of-stay limits, mandate criminal background checks, require residents to prove Massachusetts residency and legal immigration status, and move families out of hotels.”

Fetherston said that despite claims that all shelter residents were vetted through criminal background checks, “not a single one of these people was vetted” and “nobody knew who they were.”

“The governor threw open the doors and didn’t vet anyone, and that’s his fault,” he said.

He also noted: “98 percent of the people I encountered were genuinely good people, and they were just here to make a better life for themselves. But the 2% who weren’t were some of the worst people I’ve ever seen.”

“These shelters are all paid for with taxpayer dollars,” he emphasized.

“Taxpayers need to understand that you are essentially, horribly, funding these rapes and assaults on little girls,” he said, adding, “No one wants this.”

In August, Healey ordered the state’s housing system shut down, making some residents eligible for at least $30,000 in state housing assistance over a two-year period.

Fetherston said local police have since told him there has been an increase in auto accidents. He also said school districts, especially in small-town communities, are overwhelmed by the influx of foreign students.

“Where are you getting the money? Are you taking the money from the police? Are you taking the money from the fire? Aren’t you fixing the roads that year? Because you have to educate these kids. So this has devastating effects on small communities.”

Fox News Digital previously reported that Alvarez arrived in June under the parole process initiated by the Biden administration for Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans and Venezuelans (CHNV). The policy was first announced for Venezuelans in October 2022; this policy allowed a limited number of people to fly directly to the United States as long as they were not illegally entering, had an existing sponsor in the United States, and passed certain checks.

Fox News Digital reached out to Healey’s office for comment but did not immediately receive a response.
