Child dies from dog bite at property in North Yorkshire

A child has died after a suspected dog bite at a property in North Yorkshire.
Armed police rushed to the scene on Hardale Drive in Dormanstown, Redcar, and killed a dog in the street. Officers seized another dog from the home.
Crime scene investigation teams were also called Northern Echo.
Cleveland Police said officers were alerted due to concerns about a child.
“The child was sadly dead when he arrived at the property,” they said.
It is believed that the child died as a result of a dog bite.
Paramedics were also called. A spokesman for the North East Ambulance Service said: “We were called to an incident at a private address in Redcar shortly before 1.30pm on Thursday, April 9.
“We dispatched three ambulance crews, a clinical team leader and an on-duty officer to the incident. One patient was transported to hospital for further treatment.”
Redcar and Cleveland Area Commander Emily Harrison said: “Understandably this is a sad and tragic incident and our thoughts are with the boy’s family.
“As the investigation into the child’s death begins, there is a scene at the address.
“I would encourage anyone with concerns or information to please speak to an officer.”
