Man charged with $1.1m diesel fuel theft in Queensland
A Queensland man has been charged after allegedly stealing more than $1.1 million worth of diesel fuel in a year-long scheme.
Police allege the 48-year-old man used stolen fuel cards to buy diesel from unmanned depots in Brisbane’s southern and western suburbs between December 2024 and December 2025.
The fuel was allegedly stolen from Parkinson, Bundamba and Karawatha.
Officers raided a property in Greenbank on March 24 and allegedly discovered evidence of fuel thefts, as well as other stolen goods and a homemade stun gun.
The 48-year-old man has since been charged with two counts of receiving tainted property and one count each of committing fraud, entering premises, committing criminal offenses and unlawful possession of a weapon (Category D/H/R) worth at least $100,000.
The man was taken into custody following his appearance in Richlands Magistrates’ Court on March 15.
He will appear in court again on May 15.
South Brisbane District Centenary Crime Group Acting Detective Inspector Justin Anderson issued a stern warning following the man’s arrest.
“Whether it’s a tank of fuel or a large-scale diesel scam, theft is an offense that can land you in court,” he said.
