Taya Kyle, the widow of the “American Sniper,” ripped apart Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner’s “cowardly” comments and called out the progressive Democrat for claiming her late husband inflated death tolls by shooting innocent civilians.
“Nothing says I want attention more than dissing a national hero who is also dead…” Kyle replied, “On the Sunday Briefing.”
“Lying about someone else is cowardly, modest, and distracts from what you’ve probably said…”
Kyle accused Platner, a controversial opponent of incumbent Republican Sen. Susan Collins, of using a “cheap political trick” to attach his name to a “well-liked” person.

“This gives him this notoriety, but to me it shows a complete inability to lead with character. In my view he immediately drops out of the race,” he added.
Platner’s remarks came from a 2024 episode of the “Green Beret Chronicle Show,” a podcast discussing military affairs.
“His stories about how many people he shot certainly matched the behavior I witnessed and the people I know he witnessed at Government Center; if you’re a little less discerning with your fire than a more professional unit, it’s relatively easy to get to those kinds of high numbers,” Platner said.

Platner also came under fire for a recently resurfaced Reddit post seen in a viral video in which a soldier injured in a firefight with Taliban fighters said, “Stupid bastard —– didn’t deserve to live.”
Robert O’Neill, the US Navy SEAL credited with killing Osama bin Laden, called out Platner when reacting to the post, calling him “out of line” for speaking about a soldier that way.
Platner, a Marine Corps veteran bent on his struggle He has been blamed for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) to explain numerous provocative social media posts that have emerged since he announced his candidacy for the Senate.
But O’Neill opposed this suggestion and said PTSD was no excuse for such “vile hatred”.
