China has agreed in principle to resume trade with India through Shipki-La in Kinnaur: Himachal govt

Shimla, in principle, August 24 (PTI) China, Foreign Minister Wang Yi’nin said to India, Himachal Pradesh’s proposal to continue trade through Shipki-La in the Kinnaur Region.

Trade was suspended in 2020 due to Covid-19 pandemi.

In addition to the trade, the state government said that through Shipki-La, Kailash Mansarovarar Yatra received a positive response to the restarting.

The state government stressed that the Shipki-La road, which was connected to Darchen and Mansarovar through Gartok, is relatively shorter on the Tibetan side.

Himachal Pradesh has a road connection to Shipki-La through Rampur Bushahr and Pooh, which enables the communication sent to the Union Government to develop the necessary basic camps and support the supportive infrastructure for the investment.

In a letter to CM, the Minister of Foreign Affairs stated that after a five-year gap, Kailash Mansarovar Yatra continued through Lipulekh Pass (Uttarakhand) and Nathu la Pass (coin) and that the controversy with China continues to add as an additional way.

The state government is hopeful that these initiatives will not only revive the traditional border trade, but also to open new ways for tourism, cultural change and economic development in Himachal Pradesh.
