Chittoor Police Bust Illegal Prenatal Sex Testing Network

Police found that pregnant women from Tamil Nadu and Karnataka were contacted and brought to Chittoor-Bangarupalem district for tests. The accused allegedly collected around Rs 10,000 from each woman for the transactions, which were carried out using an unauthorized scanning machine.
The police identified 14 pregnant women who did this and recorded their statements.
Those arrested were B Padmavati from Mittur, V Jyothi from police colony in Chittoor, who allegedly conducted the sweeps, S Jyothish from Cheekurupalli village and N Roman Kumar from Chandrasekharapuram village.
B Sudhakar Reddy of Chittoor and Nagaraju, who allegedly contacted pregnant women and arranged their visits, is absconding, police said. Those detained were sent to the courthouse.

Midnight theft offer sparked panic in Badvel

There was tension in Badvel town in Kadapa district after miscreants attempted theft at a furniture store in the early hours of Sunday.
According to the police, unidentified thieves created mayhem after midnight and targeted the MC Furniture showroom in the town. The criminals reportedly carried out the operation with a well-planned strategy, first cutting CCTV camera cables to avoid detection before entering the facility.
They entered the showroom by breaking the shutter locks and side door locks using iron bars. Once inside, they rummaged through cash drawers and cabinets, breaking open locks to find money. However, the exact amount of cash or valuables stolen has not yet been determined.
In a worrying development, the attempted burglary occurred just a day after a burglary at the same homeowner’s home, raising suspicions of a targeted attack.
Upon being informed, the police came to the scene and started an investigation. Authorities suspect that a single gang may be behind a series of thefts reported in Badvel in recent days.
Residents expressed fear over the escalating incidents, claiming that thieves kept a close eye on houses locked by families who had gone out of town and went on strike throughout the night. While successive theft attempts created unrest in the region, the police intensified their patrols and began examining clues to track down the criminals.

Op Vajra Prahar: 38 vehicles seized in Prakasam

Prakasam district police carried out large-scale cordon and search operations under ‘Operation Vajra Prahar’ to curb crime, drug abuse and anti-social activities.

Acting on the instructions of SP V. Harshavardhan Raju, special teams conducted searches in Santhanuthalapadu, Ulavapadu and Addanki areas. More than 120 police personnel, including DSP members, department inspectors and assistant inspectors, attended the march.

Public gatherings to be banned in Tirupati till June 30

Tirupati district police imposed restrictions under Section 30 of the Police Act, 1861 from June 1 to June 30, making prior written permission mandatory for rallies, marches, public meetings and other mass gatherings.

SP L. Subba Rayudu said the orders were issued to maintain public order, prevent untoward incidents and ensure smooth traffic flow, especially in view of the huge influx of devotees visiting Tirupati and Tirumala.

Individuals, political parties, organizations and associations must obtain prior permission from the relevant police station and the relevant SDPO before conducting public programmes.

Simultaneous events in public places may create disturbance and lead to law and order problems, police said. The restrictions will not apply to marriages, funerals and traditional family events. Authorities warned that legal action would be taken against violators.

Man beheads YSR statue, creating tension in Nandyal

A shocking incident in Nandyal district triggered tension after an unidentified man allegedly beheaded the statue of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy at a major junction in the town on Sunday.

According to eyewitnesses, the accused, identified as Jamulayya, lifted the head of the statue in broad daylight as onlookers watched in disbelief. While the purpose behind the action remains unclear, the police launched an investigation to determine the defendant’s reasons and background.

Meanwhile, YSRC leaders held a peaceful protest rally in Nandyal on Sunday and condemned the action. They demanded the immediate arrest of the accused and strict legal action against him. Party leaders also urged the police to take preventive measures to prevent such incidents from recurring in the future.

4 bodies recovered from Tungabhadra

Four bodies were recovered from the Tungabhadra River near Mantralayam in Kurnool district after five people reportedly drowned while swimming in the river.

According to officials, the victims had come to Mantralayam on May 30 to attend Satyanarayana Vratham at a relative’s house. Later, citizens who entered the river to swim were caught by the strong current.

The deceased were identified as Sandhya (22), Satish (35), Yavan Chandra (5) and Dhanush (23). Search operations are continuing to trace Raghavendra (25), a resident of Mantralayam, who is still missing.

The bodies removed from the stream were taken to the State Hospital for autopsy. Search and rescue operations are being led by Tahsildar Ramadevi and Circle Inspector Dastagiri Babu. The tragic incident left the families of the victims and the local community deeply saddened.
