Citi appoints Ankur Khurana as head of commercial banking in India | People

Citi said on Tuesday that Ankur Khurana has been appointed as head of its commercial banking operations in India, effective February 9. Khurana will report to Gunjan Kalra, Citi India Commercial Bank’s head of Japan, North Asia and Australia and South Asia, and provide a matrix reporting line to K Balasubramanian, Citi India’s chief executive officer and head of banking, and head of the India subcontinent subcluster.

Khurana will be responsible for driving the strategy, growth and performance of the Citi Commercial Bank (CCB) business in India. He will oversee the sustainable growth of the franchise and have full responsibility for revenues, portfolio quality, return on capital and operating efficiency, the bank said.

CCB is an integral part of Citi’s global strategy and focuses on offering Citi’s suite of products, including but not limited to cash and liquidity management, foreign exchange, trade finance, capital markets and lending solutions, to mid-market and emerging companies seeking to establish a global or international footprint.

Khurana will work closely with colleagues across banking, markets, services and wealth to ensure customers have access to the bank’s leading products and solutions across all businesses.

Additionally, Khurana will ensure CCB has a targeted scope approach in India, working closely with investment banking to scope out joint opportunities that will drive the growth of the Indian banking business.
