He said: ‘Blackpool this year is going to be even more special… Listen up everyone, because we’ve got an announcement.’

‘And following the advice of our medical team we can now confirm that he has unfortunately had to withdraw from the competition.’

The cameras then moved to La Voix holding back tears as the audience applauded her.

La Voix was left ‘devastated and heartbroken’ after doctors advised her to rest and focus on recovery.

The 45-year-old Drag Race star, whose real name is Christopher Dennis, said in a statement: ‘It is with great sadness that I have to withdraw from the Strictly Come Dancing shows in Blackpool this weekend.

‘I’ve been told I won’t be able to perform due to my injury and it truly breaks my heart to know I won’t be dancing at such an iconic venue.

‘Aljaž and I worked incredibly hard and were so excited to share our routine with everyone.

‘I’m so sad I won’t be able to join the rest of the cast on that famous dance floor, but right now I’m focusing on my recovery. ‘I’ll be cheering on all the amazing couples this weekend.’

A Strictly spokesperson explained at the time: ‘Due to her injury, La Voix has been advised to rest by doctors and as a result she will not be dancing in the Blackpool special this weekend.

In accordance with the rules of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, La Voix and Aljaž will say goodbye until next week, when it is hoped they can dance again.
