CMO Tamil Nadu Pages on Social Media See a Massive Surge

After actor-turned-politician Joseph Vijay became the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, there was a huge increase in social media followers of the official “CMO Tamil Nadu” (Chief Minister’s Office) pages. The number of followers on Instagram has increased from around 4 lakh to 15 lakh. Followers on handle X increased from 4 lakh to 21 lakh. The profile picture of Vijay sitting in the Chief Minister’s seat (popularly known as DP) garnered over 1.4 million views in just 24 hours.

Typically, official accounts do not garner a lot of followers as they are filled with management-related posts that are considered boring and dry by the general public. This jump is quite understandable as Vijay is a popular superstar.

Vijay took oath in Chennai on May 10. His first decisions include the provision of 200 units of electricity free of charge and the closure of belt shops (liquor) within 500 meters of schools, places of worship and bus stops. He made his first speech in the Parliament today.
