CoalSETU: Govt allows coal linkage holders to export up to 50% of coal capacity

The Economic Affairs Committee of the Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved a new window under the 2016 ‘CoalSETU’ policy under which the government allows link holders to export up to 50% of coal capacity as India now has adequate domestic coal production. This comes with the creation of a new window in the NRS Linkage Policy called the “CoalSETU window” for the use of coal for any industrial use and export. The new policy adds to a series of coal sector reforms being undertaken by the Centre.
CoalSETU stands for Coal Connectivity for Seamless, Efficient and Transparent Use. “Coal link holders will have the right to export coal up to 50% of the coal link amount,” the government said.
