Coast Guard Fort Myers Beach saves 8 after boat capsized in Florida

A quick-thinking crew from U.S. Coast Guard Station Fort Myers Beach saved eight lives, including an infant and a child, after a boat capsized near Florida’s Sanibel Pass on Friday afternoon.
Response teams rushed to the scene of the capsized ship and carried out a quick, coordinated effort to ensure everyone was safely removed from the water.
Officials credited the operation’s success to the crew’s “relentless” preparation and teamwork.

“A successful mission is measured by lives brought home safely,” U.S. Coast Guard Station Fort Myers Beach wrote in a statement on Facebook.
The Coast Guard emphasized that the high-risk rescues are a powerful reminder of why its teams are constantly trained and ready to respond at any time of the day or night.
