Coast Guard helicopter crashes in Alaska, injuring 4 crew members

A Coast Guard helicopter crashed during a routine training flight in southeast Alaska on Monday, injuring all four crew members on board, according to officials.

The MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crashed in a sparsely populated area near Harbor Mountain outside Sitka, Alaska, the Coast Guard announced in a press release.

Sentinels at the Arctic Command Center received the crash report shortly after 10 a.m.

Sitka Fire and Rescue crews responded to the scene around 11 a.m. and all four injured crew members were taken to Mt. for treatment. He was transported to Edgecumbe Medical Center.

No deaths were reported related to the accident.

“We are incredibly relieved that our crew members survived with only minor injuries,” Coast Guard Arctic Regional Commander Rear Adm. Bob Little said in a statement.

It is unclear what caused the accident. The investigation of the incident continues.

The Coast Guard crash follows several other aircraft collisions this month.
