Cold Chisel rocked by death of long-serving member

Long-serving member of Australian rock legends Cold Chisel has died following a battle with cancer.
The Adelaide pub rockers confirmed via Instagram that the band’s long-time saxophone player, Andy Bickers, had died on Friday morning.
The band described the saxophonist as a “brother and incredibly musician” in an emotional social media post.
“Andy Bicker, our beloved saxophonist of over 30 years, passed away this morning after a difficult battle with cancer,” the post reads.
“Andy was our brother, an incredible musician and a great person to be with on the road or in the city.
“His valuable contributions on stage to songs such as Rising Sun, Saturday Night and My Baby will be greatly missed.
“Our hearts break for his wife Lisa and son Rudy.”
Following news of Mr Bickers’ death, tributes were shared under the post, including from former breakfast TV presenter Michael Rowland.
“RIP Andy. Condolences to the family. Thanks for the music,” she wrote, adding a heart emoji.
Originally from Wellington, New Zealand, Mr Bickers moved to Australia after becoming fascinated with Australian music videos and became a regular fixture at livestreams in Melbourne and Sydney.
He was later invited to join Jim Barnes’ touring band, which led to him becoming a member of Cold Chisel.
He has also toured with other big names such as The Eagles, Midnight Oil and Diesel.
