Cole Allen agrees to stay in jail before his Trump assassination attempt trial

Cole Tomas Allen on Thursday waived his right, for now, to appeal his detention in jail on charges of trying to assassinate President Donald Trump at last weekend’s White House Correspondents’ Association dinner.
Allen’s waiver was a reversal of his defense team’s intention to object to his detention, expressed in a court filing Wednesday night.
“He is accepting detention at this time,” Allen’s attorney, Tezira Abe, told Magistrate Judge Moxila Upadhyaya during a hearing Thursday in U.S. District Court in the District of Columbia.
U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro’s office had urged Upadhyaya in a filing Wednesday to keep the 31-year-old California resident locked up without bail until trial.
