A top spokesman for former President Bill Clinton harshly accused House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., of misrepresenting deliberations in the Jeffrey Epstein investigation, insisting that the Clintons never denied the affidavits or transcripts as the committee prepared to vote in contempt.
Angel Ureña, the former president’s deputy chief of staff, said Comer used the disagreement over the format of the statement as an excuse to file a defamation lawsuit.
Ureña’s remarks came after Comer accused the Clintons of defying bipartisan subpoenas and seeking limits on testimony that would ban other lawmakers and prevent the creation of a formal record.
“We have never said no to a transcript. Interviews are recorded and sworn to,” he wrote to X. “The reason this is happening is not because it was written or typed. If this was the last or only issue, we would be in a different position. You know who you are, you continue to mislead to protect who you are and God knows what.”

Comer said the Clintons’ lawyers made what he called an untenable proposition as the committee moved toward the contempt trial.
“Facing congressional contempt, the Clintons’ lawyers made an untenable offer: I wouldn’t go to New York just to talk to President Clinton,” Comer wrote to X. “No official minutes will be recorded and other members of Congress will be barred from attending. I rejected the Clintons’ ridiculous offer.”
Comer also accused the Clintons of seeking preferential treatment and failing to comply with lawful subpoenas.
BILL AT RISK OF CRIMINAL CHARGES AFTER HILLARY CLINTON FIGHTS AGAINST HOUSE COURT ON EPSTEIN PROBE
“The Clintons’ latest requests make clear that they believe their last names entitle them to special treatment,” he wrote. “The House Oversight Committee’s bipartisan subpoenas require the Clintons to appear for sworn and transcribed depositions.”
The House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform is examining what the Clintons knew about Epstein and his associate Ghislaine Maxwell, including examining Hillary’s role overseeing U.S. efforts to combat international sex trafficking while serving as secretary of state.
Comer said the lack of an official record would undermine public accountability as the investigation progresses.
JON STEWART SAYS CLINTONS SHOULD ‘STRONGLY’ COMPLY WITH CONGRESSIVE SUBJECTS ABOUT EPSTEIN

“The absence of an official transcript is an indefensible demand that insults the American people who demand answers about Epstein’s crimes,” Comer wrote.
Rep. Brandon Gill, R-Texas, who serves on the House Oversight Committee, told Fox News that the panel had backed down to accommodate the Clintons and said their refusal to comply with the subpoenas left the committee with no choice but to hold it in contempt.

“We’ve seen a lot of photos of Bill Clinton with Epstein’s victims dealing with all kinds of things that look pretty nasty on Epstein’s plane, and I think the American people want answers and they want to know what a former US president was doing with this disgusting pedophile,” Gill said.
