Commanders’ Jayden Daniels leaves game with injury

Washington Commanders star Jayden Daniels injured his right leg in Sunday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys.

Daniels broke free from the gun formation and dropped back to pass in the third quarter. He pumped a fake to try to fool Cowboys linebacker Shemar James, who was coming after him, without a touch. As James tried to wrap him up, Daniels lost the ball and his leg appeared to buckle.

The Offensive Rookie of the Year was writhing in pain. He limped off the field and walked directly into the blue medical tent.

He was officially listed as questionable due to a hamstring injury. Marcus Mariota took over Daniels’ offense. Mariota threw a pick-six to Cowboys linebacker DaRon Bland.

Daniels was subsequently removed from the game.

The second-year quarterback already missed some time earlier this season due to an injury. He entered the game against the Cowboys with 875 yards, seven TDs and only one interception.

He was 12/222 with 156 passing yards, a touchdown pass to Zach Ertz, and a rushing touchdown. He was leading the team in receiving yards with 35 when he came out.

Daniels is one of the most exciting young quarterbacks in the NFL. He had 3,568 passing yards and 25 touchdowns last season as the Commanders advanced to the NFC Championship.
