Commercial LPG supplies in Telangana meeting only 20% demand; Uttam urges Centre for more commercial cylinders

Commercial Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) supplies in Telangana currently meet only 20% of the demand, raising concerns of those working in the food business and other commercial sectors. However, domestic supply is close to normal. Civil Supplies Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy said he wrote to the Center on Saturday, March 14, requesting additional commercial LPG cylinders.

There has been a sharp decline in commercial LPG deliveries from the usual requirement of 23,000 cylinders per day to around 6,200 cylinders. The minister said domestic LPG supply is at near normal levels and around 2.15 lakh cylinders are being delivered daily.

A little over 2.37 lakh domestic cylinders were delivered on Friday. According to information received from the Civil Supplies department, the normal requirement is 2.5 lakh cylinders per day.

Addressing the media after a review meeting on gas supply with the Telangana LPG Distributors Association at the State Secretariat on Saturday, the official said that the Command and Control Center at Civil Supplies Bhavan has become functional. Toll-free numbers are 1800-428-00-333 and 1967.

Mr. Reddy appealed to the public not to overbook domestic fuel supplies and emergency measures were initiated, including 1,740 KL of kerosene as reserve. LPG Distributors Association has expressed concern over customer flow and law and order issues. The Minister assured him of all possible assistance and protection.
