Community demands justice for 3-year-old girl’s homicide in Marion County

A group of people gathered in Marion County to demand justice for 3-year-old Paisley Brown, who was found dead in Citra on Thursday. Investigators continue murder investigation and arrested Jeroen Coombs, the boy’s mother’s boyfriend.

The community meeting also included questions from residents about charging more people; some suggested that Brown’s mother should be charged along with Coombs.

Brown was found dead on February 19. Authorities have not yet announced a definitive cause of death.

Carley Santana, a member of the local community, joined the demonstration to voice her concerns about the scope and pace of legal proceedings. Santana said further legal action is needed beyond the initial arrest made by investigators.

“They need to step up their game, they haven’t made the arrest yet and I’m not a detective, I know it takes time and I respect law enforcement,” Santana said. He stated that he respected the investigation process and called on authorities to take into account the roles of others who were present at the time of the incident.

While Coombs was taken into custody, investigators have not announced any other arrests or charges.
