Complete Old City Metro Rail by 2028, Asad Tells Revanth

Hyderabad: AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi urged Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to keep his promise to complete the Old City Metro Rail by 2028.

He credited the GHMC and his party MLAs for completing over 90 per cent of land acquisition under the Old City’s metro project and praised Hyderabad Metro Rail Ltd. (HMRL) for taking over the acquired land.

In his post on

“Credit should be given to the GHMC commissioner and AIMIM MLAs for ensuring prompt release of compensation for land acquisition and subsequent acquisition of acquired land by HMRL,” he said.

The Telangana state government has expedited the Old City Metro project, a key component of the second phase of metro construction. Significant progress has been made in land acquisition for the project, with 93 percent of the required 888 properties already secured. The government also paid more than ₹820 crore as compensation to affected property owners.

Although the land acquisition is almost complete, legal disputes over 10 properties and several sites are still ongoing in the courts.
