Congress puts pressure on Govt. with multiple press conferences on alleged donation theft at Ram Mandir

Stepping up its attack on the alleged misappropriation of donations at the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, the Congress brought together several senior leaders across the country to address press conferences on Friday, July 10, 2026.

While Rajya Sabha MP Pawan Khera addressed a press conference in Jammu, Lok Sabha MP Deepender Hooda spoke to media persons in Lucknow. While All India Congress Committee Research Department Head Rajeev Gowda addressed the media in Chennai, party social media Supriya Shrinate raised the issue in Punjab. Senior leader Shaktisinh Gohil held a press conference in Haryana.

In Uttarakhand, Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s silence on the allegations of theft of offerings and donations from the Ram Temple and demanded a Supreme Court-monitored inquiry into the matter.

He said that for several years, the BJP, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) had been collecting donations in the name of Ram Mandir and the trust authority was misusing this money, gold and other offerings.

“I have only one question: Who is responsible for the theft of donations? The Ram Temple Foundation was established under the supervision of the Prime Minister.” [Narendra Modi]. Why is he keeping quiet about this?” Mr. Venugopal said he has demanded an investigation under the supervision of the Supreme Court.

He added that the Congress party will prominently raise the issue in the Monsoon Session of Parliament.

Mr. Venugopal was in the Hill State to review the party’s preparedness for the Assembly elections scheduled to be held in Uttarakhand early next year.
