Constellations to rise as Adelaide writers get another chance

MWM: We are proud to announce our sponsorship of the previously canceled Adelaide Writers Week, which has been revived as a one-off event by WritersSA: constellations. Kim Wingerei Reports from the city of festivals.
The event will take place from February 28 to March 5, as the local writing community of authors, booksellers and publishers come together in a series of events for readers and writers. constellations umbrella.
“This festival will not replicate the programs of Louise Adler, the highly respected director of Adelaide Writers Week,” local writer Jennifer Mills said. “We will not attempt to recreate the scale and feel of Adelaide Writers’ Week; we simply do not have the time or resources for that.”
“Instead, we support decentralized, community-focused events. This is a collective response to the frustration and disappointment many of us feel over the way this year’s Writers’ Week was lost. We want to create spaces where readers and writers can come together in a show of strength and solidarity.”

The umbrella festival is organized by a wide range of local representatives, including booksellers, publishers and authors, through a non-profit sector organisation. Authors SA It acts as a central point in communication and logistics.
A number of major events will be announced in the coming weeks, including autonomously curated First Nations, poetry, children’s and YA programming.
MWM will be the media sponsor of the event.
“We are overwhelmed by the number of people offering their time, expertise or space to support this community festival,” said local bookseller Annie Waters. “Now that we’ve opened the call to the wider community, we can’t wait to see what kind of creative activity happens.”
