Constitution Day celebrated by various organizations, departments

Constitution Day was celebrated by various institutions, organizations and departments here on Wednesday and Dr. Rich tributes were paid to BR Ambedkar.
Mysore University Dr. To mark the occasion, BR Ambedkar Center for Research and Publication organized a special lecture on Indian Constitution and Contemporary Society by retired judge and Lokayukta Santosh Hegde.
The event was inaugurated by NK Lokanath, Vice-Chancellor of Mysore University and focused on women empowerment, advancement of backward class groups etc. He said that today’s social changes can only be possible with the Constitution.
He said that the Constitution of India is not just a law book spelling out the dos and don’ts, but reflects the aspirations of the people and the democratic values valued by the citizens. “It is the duty of every citizen to study the Constitution and internalize its values,” he added.
Mysuru Division of South Western Railway also celebrated Constitution Day. Additional Railway Divisional Director Shammas Hammed read the Preamble of the Constitution and the officials reaffirmed their collective commitment to the democratic values and ideals enshrined in the Constitution.
He underlined the importance of the preamble in guiding the country’s progress and reminded employees of their responsibility to uphold constitutional values in their daily work. Similar programs were also organized at the Central Food Technological Research Institute, Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation Ltd.
