Cop who ‘slapped female colleague’s bum’ resigns in disgrace | UK | News
A police officer slapped a female colleague on the buttocks, touched other staff inappropriately and made sexual remarks, a misconduct hearing heard. Former Derbyshire Police officer PC Alexander Kimber “failed to maintain professional boundaries” and “had the potential to cause harassment to colleagues”, the misconduct panel ruled.
Hearing Kimber, who joined the force in December 2022, was said to have slapped the bottom of a colleague known only as ‘Person A’ while on duty and sent emojis of her on social media regarding her appearance. When Person A wasn’t wearing his PPE (personal protective equipment), Kimber told him, “It’s nice to see you without your equipment” — sending him a message calling him “beautiful” and also texting him, “Ignore me, I miss spanking your ass.”
In June 2024, the panel said he “poked Person A in the left buttock” and later “send Person A a message via Snapchat that read, ‘Poking you in the ass made my day.'”
The misconduct hearing report said Kimber “displayed inappropriate behavior towards female colleagues that failed to maintain professional boundaries and had the potential to result in them being harassed because of their gender.”
The board concluded that if the officer did not resign before the hearing, he would be dismissed.
Mr Kimber admitted gross misconduct in relation to the offenses and said he was “extremely remorseful” for his actions, according to police documents.
“This type of behavior will never occur again, and I have sought therapy to understand my actions and better understand boundaries,” he is quoted as saying in the documents.
The misconduct, made public by police after a hearing in December, revealed Kimber also told a different female colleague: “You’ve done a good job the last few days… and it helps you look nice.”
She also texted “words to the effect of ‘Tell me she needs to show me her breasts because she’s late'” while arguing with a mutual colleague about another co-worker.
Deputy Chief Constable Simon Blatchly of Derbyshire Police said: “Mr Kimber’s behavior is completely unacceptable and has no place in the policing profession.
“Officers are held to a high standard, whether dealing with the public or colleagues.
“The repeated and targeted actions against his female colleagues were wrong and it is right that he would have been dismissed had he not resigned.”
