Bowens is due back in court in November, with a potential trial date set for Dec. 24, according to King County Superior Court records reviewed by PEOPLE.

Prosecutors alleged Bowens waited nearly an hour before taking the dog to an emergency veterinarian, where medical staff performed CPR for 20 minutes before the dog was declared dead, according to the outlet.
