India Slams Pakistan At UN, Demands End To ‘Grave’ Human Rights Abuses In Illegally Occupied Kashmir | World News

India has sent a strong message to Pakistan exposing its “hypocrisy”, demanding that it put an end to “serious” human rights violations while suppressing the open rebellion of the people in the Kashmir regions that its forces have illegally occupied.

“In the last few weeks alone, occupying Pakistani forces and their proxies have killed many innocent civilians agitating for their fundamental rights and freedoms in some occupied parts of Kashmir,” Bhavika Managalanmadan, First Secretary of India’s Mission to the UN, said in a statement on Friday.

Rejecting Islamabad’s criticism, he told the General Assembly, “We call on Pakistan to stop serious and ongoing human rights violations in the areas it has illegally occupied, where the people are in open revolt against Pakistan’s military occupation, oppression, brutality and illegal exploitation of resources.”

Pointing out that Pakistani diplomats make outrageous allegations against India at every opportunity to speak at the UN, regardless of the context of the talks, Managalenendan said, “Repeated allegations and lies neither change the truth nor the truth.”

“Pakistan’s hypocrisy and hypocrisy do not deserve the time and attention of this supreme forum,” he said.

He talked about Mangaladan and the participation of the Kashmiri people in the elections as a sign of the rightness of Indian democracy.

“We reject Pakistan’s attempts to denigrate the people of India and the Democratic preferences regularly exercised, including the people of Jammu and Kashmir” and “the social and economic progress they are experiencing is there for all to see”.

“It is unfortunate that Pakistan has resorted to subverting the principle of self-determination by resorting to false equivalences,” he added.

Pakistan often claims that the Security Council wanted a plebiscite in Kashmir, but in fact the Council in its Resolution 47 of April 1948 ordered Pakistan to withdraw its troops and citizens from the whole of Kashmir.

However, Islamabad continues its illegal occupation in violation of the Council’s request.

“Let me reiterate that the union territories of Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh are an integral and inalienable part of India,” Mangalenendan said.

Reiterating India’s commitment to human rights, he said it “stems from our freedom struggle led by Mahatma Gandhi, which emphasized non-violence and equality.”

Gandhi’s legacy is enshrined in the Constitution and “India’s domestic framework for the protection of human rights continues to evolve and strengthen,” he said, adding that India has adopted progressive laws and programs to protect fundamental rights.

He added that the judiciary extends the protection of human rights, while the Human Rights Commissions at the national and state levels provide the framework for the protection of rights.
