CRIME SCENE: Man charged in alleged sex assault of girl on TTC subway

A Toronto man is accused of sexually assaulting a girl on a TTC subway and police are concerned there may be more alleged victims.

Toronto Police were called on Sunday around 10 a.m. to the Main St. and Danforth Ave. station.

They allege a 12-year-old girl was approached on the subway by a man who sexually assaulted her. She was not physically injured.
Witnesses called police to report the incident and pointed out a suspect to officers.
Shahzad Sherzay, 60, was arrested and charged with sexual assault on a person under 16 and sexual interference.

KNIFE-WIELDING ROBBER SOUGHT
Cops are hunting a man who was armed with a knife when he robbed a west-end Toronto store last month.
On June 9 at 12:45 a.m., a man “wearing a mask to disguise his identity” entered a store in the Eglinton Ave. W. and Royal York Rd. area.

He went to the checkout counter, produced a knife and demanded money, netting “a quantity of cash” before fleeing, Toronto Police say.
The wanted man is described as 5-foot-7 with a thin build.

Police said he should be considered armed and dangerous.

TEEN TRIO CHARGED IN ROBBERY
A sale arranged through a social media website led to a buyer allegedly being assault and three Toronto youths being arrested in North York.
Toronto Police say the victim made arrangements online to make a purchase in the Jane St. and Finch Ave. W. area. However, police allege the victim instead was assaulted — receiving minor injuries — and robbed of their belongings.

Officers located three suspects nearby and arrested them, allegedly seizing a “handgun loaded with seven rounds in its magazine” on one of the accused.
A search warrant was executed at a North York residence and “an extended magazine loaded with 10 rounds of ammunition” was found, police say.
A 15-year-old is charged with fail to comply with release order, robbery, unauthorized possession of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a restricted weapon, two counts of possession of prohibited ammunition knowing no authority, carry concealed weapon, and two counts of use firearm, weapon, prohibited device.
A 16-year-old and a 17-year-old are both charged with robbery.
Police did not specify the gender of the accused or victim.

GUN SEIZED FROM SPEEDING DRIVER: COPS
A Toronto woman allegedly spotted speeding in Pickering also had a firearm, cops allege.
Around 2:15 a.m. on Tuesday, officers were “proactively patrolling the area of Brock Rd. and Rossland Rd. W. when they observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed.”
The vehicle was pulled over and while Durham Regional Police officers were “confirming her documents, they observed a firearm in the vehicle.”
Yushan Zhou, 27, is charged with occupy motor vehicle with firearm, possess unloaded firearm, possess prohibited/restricted weapon knowing no authority, possess restricted or prohibited firearm knowingly not holding a licence and registration certificate, and speeding.

MAN SLUMPED BEHIND WHEEL FLED: POLICE
A 28-year-old man is accused of fleeing police in Oshawa after being spotted slumped behind the wheel.
Durham Regional Police were called around 9 a.m. on Saturday to the Wilson Rd. S. and Dean Ave. area for reports of a male slumped behind the wheel.
Officers arrived and saw the vehicle heading westbound on Dean. Cops “attempted a traffic stop at which time the vehicle fled from police.”
The vehicle collided with an unoccupied vehicle in the area of Brest Ct. and Sedan Cres. The driver then exited and fled on foot before being located a short distance away and taken into custody.
Jeff Avery, of no fixed address, is charged with dangerous operation, fail to stop for police, drive motor vehicle while suspended, and leave accident scene/fail to give name.
