Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday warned that crimes committed under the guise of politics will not be tolerated.
Responding to the debate on the Motion of Thanks to the Governor’s speech in the Legislative Assembly, Mr. Naidu said the government will act tough against those who try to disturb the peace or undermine public institutions.
He said law and order in the state was in disarray when the NDA government took office and the previous administration had failed to maintain stability and allowed disorder to prevail.
Mr. Naidu accused the YSRCP of resorting to serious financial mismanagement in the power sector during its tenure. He claimed that YSRCP had left behind electricity dues of ₹ 1,22,422 crore with multiple increases in electricity charges. Reiterating that the coalition government will not increase electricity tariffs for the next three years, the Prime Minister said that the government has met the reinforcement burden of ₹ 4,860 crore.

He said an action plan worth Rs 1 lakh crore has been prepared to develop Rayalaseema as a horticulture hub. Of this, ₹30,000 crore will be spent from government funds and ₹70,000 crore will be mobilized through private investment. Stating that the current fruit production exceeds 400 lakh MT annually, he said the target is to increase it to 1,000 lakh MT and position the region as a major horticulture hub.
Mr. Naidu said aquaculture had suffered a setback in the previous regime and announced electricity supply of ₹1.50 per unit to the sector. Claiming that payments for paddy purchases will be made within 24 hours, he said there will be more focus on adding value to crops such as coconut, cocoa and coffee. Mr. Naidu said the government was taking steps to prevent farmer suicides by keeping a check on every such incident.
Referring to the upcoming final examinations, he urged students to face them without stress and emphasized that suicide was not a solution for failure in exams.
land records
Regarding land administration, Mr. Naidu alleged that land records were irregular during the previous regime. He said the coalition government was inundated with land dispute complaints and lands were found to be arbitrarily subjected to Section 22-A restrictions if property owners did not comply with the unreasonable demands of ruling party leaders. He said it took his government a year to correct these irregularities. He said all revenue records will be cleared and reprinted with official seal, thus ensuring the security of every land owner.
As part of efforts to improve infrastructure and logistics, the government has announced major reforms, including railway projects worth ₹ 3 lakh crore, the chief minister said, citing the four-lane railway line from Ichchapuram expected in two years, expanding cargo and passenger capacity. The Center has also proposed comprehensive national highway projects and ₹ 4,000 crore has been spent to improve rural road connectivity, he said, instilling confidence that the State will deliver “triple results” under the “double engine” government.
