CS Reviews Amaravati Works, Stresses Timely Completion

VIJAYAWADA: Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary G. Sai Prasad on Saturday conducted a comprehensive field inspection of the ongoing works in Amaravati and underlined the government’s focus on expediting important infrastructure projects.

He was received by APCRDA commissioner V. Vijayaramaraju, ADC CMD D. Lakshmi Parthasarathy, AGICL MD SVR Srinivas and other senior officials and was briefed about the progress of major projects.

Sai Prasad first inspected the steel bridge being constructed across the Buckingham Canal under Seed Access Road Phase-3. Officials said the bridge will provide an alternative connection to Karakatta Road. He also reviewed the progress of another steel bridge over Kondaveeti Vagu aimed at improving urban connectivity.

The Chief Secretary then visited LPS Zone-5D near Abbarajupalem, a land pool scheme area being developed for allocation to farmers. Spread over 1,158.42 acres at an estimated cost of ₹470.42 crore, the district is planned to accommodate 1,638 plots.

Officials said the development work has been carried out in four blocks, including 37.10 km of internal road, 34.01 km of sewerage network, 76.19 km of rainwater drainage, 297.08 km of electricity and ICT network and 78.30 km of reuse water network.

He also oversaw the iconic towers project, including the under-construction GAD Tower, a 50-storey building proposed to house the Prime Minister’s Office and the General Administration Department. Officials said that four additional 40-storey towers for the Heads of Department were developed at an estimated cost of $4.820 billion.

The visit ended with a review meeting attended by senior officials at the APCRDA office.
