Surveys Record 136,000 Birds, 218 Species In Hyd

Haydarabad: Haydarabad Bird Atlas (HBA), a large -scale citizen science project aiming to document the diversity of birds in Haydarabad, completed the two -season bird polls in 2025, one in winter and the other during the monsoon, in 2025. The initiative, which will continue for two more years, helps to create important data on bird populations, seasonal movements and habitat preferences in urban and urban areas.

In the first season of February this year, 209 volunteers joined and investigated 180 different places throughout the city. This winter period is known for a mixture of settled and migratory birds, and the questionnaire was recorded in 195 species and 70,187 Individual Birds. The high number reflects the presence of winter immigrants who use the wetlands, forests, pastures and green areas of the city as resting and feeding areas.

Secondly, it took place in July 2025 during the monsoon, which has an important breeding time for many built -in birds. Volunteer participation

225 people and team documented 166 bird species and counted 62.811 individual birds. Although the number of species in the monsoon was slightly lower due to the lack of immigrants, this tour has provided valuable observations about reproductive behavior, nesting patterns and the use of local birds habitat.

Together, both seasons in 2025 recorded more than 136,000 birds and 218 species and formed a strong basis for the long -term analysis of Haydarabad’s bird life.

Several species that are not observed in winter are reported during the monsoon, including Sucock, Alpin Fast, Brown Crake, Painted Spurfowl, Pheasant Tailed Jacana, Brahminy Kite, Pied Guguk, Rain Knife, Oriental Skylark and Black Breas. These landscapes emphasize the effect of seasonal changes on the presence and behavior of birds, especially among water -related and reproductive types.

The most notified birds in the Season 2 were the ashes of Prinia, Red Ventilated Bulbul, Spotted Pigeon, Rock Pigeon and Asia Koel. In terms of population, rock pigeon, red -ventilated bulbul, mine weaver, ash premium, spotted pigeon, eastern cattle discharge, scaly chest Munia, Asian palm swift and house crow were among the best species recorded.

“The second round of the questionnaire went more smoothly than last year, because many participants have already become familiar with the process.”

Authorized, the survey, during the weekends, the air cooperates without a large rain, he added. He said that the latest data were still reviewed and that the numbers may change slightly after removing the wrong entries or repetition landscapes. In addition, WWF India and Deccan Birders (DB) are now involved in analysis and comparative studies, and many volunteers participated, while only a few remained in the project.
