Light plane crashes in southern NSW after leaving Bankstown Airport
A multi -institution search found the debris of a light plane falling in the south of the state after leaving Bankstown Airport on Thursday morning.
The pilot, a man believed to be in his 60s, sent a signal of distress from the plane as he traveled through the Buddawang National Park between the Gulf of Bateman and Canberra.

The Australian Naval Safety Authority and the NSW Toll ambulance helicopter launched a search for the aircraft.
NSW ambulance confirmed that the helicopter was found in the Buddawang National Park just before 17:00. Police, emergency services, due to difficult land and weather conditions can not be accessed by vehicles or planes trying to reach the accident area, he said.
The aircraft was conducting a training exercise with Bankstown Flying School. Nine news. After leaving at 11:00, he flew to Victoria before going north to complete the route.
It was scheduled to return to Bankstown at 15:30, but it disappeared from the radar around 14.50.
For a comment, Bankstown Flying School was contacted.
The police took over the search, but has not yet reached the accident area and did not approve the pilot’s condition.
The Australian Transportation Safety Office confirmed that it collected more information about the accident.
