Can Americans spell the National Spelling Bee’s winning words?

The BBC challenged Americans to spell words used in the last three Scripps National Spelling Bee contests.

Shrey Parikh, 14, won the competition this year after spelling 32 words correctly in a 90-second spotlight round tiebreaker. He beat 12-year-old Ishaan Gupta by spelling 25 words correctly.

Parikh won the annual competition against 247 spellers aged between 9 and 15 to win a cash prize of $52,000 (£39,000).
