Four teenagers charged in connection with underworld attacks in Sydney

Four teenagers have been charged in connection with a series of violent attacks, including the shooting of former NRL player Matt Utai, who is fighting for his life in Greater Western Sydney.
Police launch Halesowen Strike Force after a series of firebombs, car fires and shootings
west of Sydney on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Police searched homes in Riverwood, Guildford, Lilyfield, Villawood and Auburn and seized three vehicles, 1kg of cocaine, finger powders, electronics and clothing believed to be linked to the incidents.
An 18-year-old Riverwood man was arrested and charged with destruction of property by fire/destruction (>$15,000) and participating in a criminal organization and contributing to criminal activity.
The man, who was released on conditional bail, is expected to appear in Bankstown Local Court on March 10.
Police allege the teenager was involved in a firebombing in Guildford West.

A 19-year-old Villawood man has been charged with fire/exp>$15,000 damage to property and participation in a criminal group in connection with the Guildford West firebombing.
He was also accused of supplying prohibited drugs, large commercial quantities and prohibited drugs in suspicious and commercial quantities, in relation to 1 kg of cocaine found at his address.
He is expected to appear in court on Friday.
A 19-year-old Guildford man has been arrested and charged with accessory after the fact to shooting with intent to murder, participating in a criminal organisation, contributing to criminal activity and possession of prohibited drugs.
He was denied bail and is expected to appear in court on Friday.
Police will claim the 19-year-old “apprehended the gunman involved in the shooting of the 44-year-old man following the incident.”

A 16-year-old boy from Auburn was also arrested and charged with shooting with intent to murder, giving a handgun to a person who did not possess it, and participating in criminal activity by participating in a criminal organization.
He was also denied bail and is expected to appear in juvenile court today. Police will allege he was involved in the transportation of the firearm.
On Tuesday morning, Mr. Utai was shot in the shoulder and leg outside a home in Greenacre by people in an SUV that fled the scene shortly after the incident.
At the time, police said the attack was likely linked to underworld gangs.

There is no suggestion that Mr Utai has any criminal or gang involvement.
