Dan Dakich blasts WNBA, Fever organization after latest Caitlin Clark controversy: ‘Joke of a league’

Dan Dakich is fed up with the WNBA’s treatment of Caitlin Clark.
Dakich, 63, attacked the WNBA, coach Sue Blanch and Commissioner Cathy Engelbert for their treatment of the Indiana Fever superstar and the physical play she was subjected to.
“The situation with this league is complete bullshit. Total bullshit. And frankly, I’m going to the league office. I’m calling out to the commissioner. I’m calling out to the head of officials.” Dakich said on the latest episode of OutKick’s “Dan Dakich Unfiltered.”

During the Fever’s 111-109 loss to the Phoenix Mercury, Clark was punched in the throat by Alyssa Thomas as she lay on the court following a fumble. No foul was called at that time and Clark left the game due to injury.
Thomas later received an Exaggerated Foul 2 penalty and suspended the center for “carelessly touching the throat area with his fist.”
Dakich said the problem with the WNBA is that it has DEI officials. He said college basketball, the NBA and the NFL have the same problem, but the WNBA is at the forefront of this issue.
“The WNBA is at the forefront of DEI if they have unqualified people who can’t handle a game like this. And frankly, at least to Caitlin Clark and her fans, it’s always the same African-American woman who doesn’t call. Disrespectful, unacceptable. Uh-uh. That’s not what we should be saying,” Dakich said.
“We need to call it what it is. It’s complete bullshit and a joke of the league not to step in and do something.”

Dakich praised Fever coach Stephanie White but criticized Fever COO and general manager Amber Cox for her silence on Clark’s continued treatment.
“Amber Cox, who’s the president of the fucking Fever. Her idiots were on Twitter last night congratulating her fans for different things. I mean, I’ve never heard of her standing up. I’ve never heard of her standing up, I’ve never heard of her, not even once, I’ve heard of the league’s commissioner (Cathy Engelbert),” Dakich said.
“They’re all afraid of angry African-American lesbians. They’re all afraid of the media making you a racist, as if we’re all supposed to be back in 2020. Does being called a racist really bother you anymore? Does it matter?”
Dakich later called on Fever leadership to encourage players to back Clark and clear the bench next time.
“If I’m the leader of the Fever, I’m sending someone out there to kick some people… So I’m not letting that happen anymore. I don’t actually know their team. It seems like everyone is giving Sophie Cunningham permission to be their enforcer. She attacked a girl from behind. That’s okay,” Dakich said.

“But there needs to be a prolonged fight to clear the dais. The next time someone touches Caitlin Clark in a threatening way, it’s a ‘Villain in the Palace’ type thing. And that’s exactly what this is. This is threatening behavior.”
Clark will not play in the Fever’s game against the Los Angeles Sparks on Friday at 8 p.m.
The Fever are 10-8 this season and Clark has played in all but one game. He averaged 21.2 points, 8.2 assists and 4.0 rebounds per game in 17 games.
