A new Liberal Coalition partner rises

As leader of a soulless band of the rest mourning lost political victory, it’s clear that Angus Taylor and the Liberals lack ideas on how to take this country forward, writes Darren Crawford.

is on ABC insider program, host David Speers He asked Wilson whether the Liberal Party would be open to choosing One Nation as a coalition party moving forward to form a government.

Wilson refused to rule out the possibility of the Liberal Party withdrawing the National Party from its coalition partners, saying his sole focus was on personally holding the Albanian Government to account on many issues.

Speers, standing his ground, noted that Wilson had previously spoken of One Nation in these words: “vile and poisonous” and therefore how could he be willing to form a minority government with One Nation in the future?

Wilson’s response was neutral, except that he said it was up to the Australian people to decide who to vote for.

Gina Rinehart’s One Nation

Pauline Hanson’s One Nation (maybe it needs a rebrand) Gina RinehartOne Nation) is currently gaining momentum, thanks mostly to an army of bots and fake social media pages that play on billionaire donor Ms. Rinehart and her connections to U.S. President Donald Trump’s online Far-Right podcasters, and the constant fawning over of both Seven and Nine Media outlets and News Corp.

But the path to real parliamentary power can only come through improved internal structures and better vetting of candidates, especially in urban seats, rather than through populist social media outbursts based solely on Trumpism.

This was never more evident than when the One Nation chief of staff did it the day before the by-election. James Ashby ABC Rural and Regional physically removed a female journalist from a One Nation press conference for no apparent reason.

In the footage recorded immediately after the incident, it was seen that Hanson was unaware of the decision to dismiss the journalist and was not happy with it.

Similarly, the candidate who won the One Nation seat David FarleyBefore joining Labor he was a member of the NSW National Party and then at the 2023 election. donated to Farrer’s Voices He supported the campaign and supported the Independent Michelle Milthorpe (he eventually defeated her in the 2026 midterm election).

While One Nation is doing well online, they are still in disarray behind the scenes; but from the outside they appear to function marginally better than the Coalition.

The Liberal and National parties favored One Nation in the Farrer by-election, handing the seat to One Nation without a single whimper.

Reasons to be cheerful: The rise of the resistance

Former Deputy Prime Minister appointed to National Party in less than 12 months Barnaby Joyce As the Liberal Party abandons its female leader, it jumps ship to One Nation Susan Leyin favor of Angus Taylor. Nationals appointed senators Matt Canavan As a leader who has done little publicly except deny climate change and oppose the nascent renewable energy industry.

The Liberals under Taylor have achieved relatively little, other than tacitly endorsing every anti-immigrant, pro-Trump culture war that Hanson has floated publicly and supporting Hanson’s call to send Australian troops into Trump’s war in Iran. Opposing mass immigration and scrapping net zero are key One Nation policies currently shared by the Liberal National coalition.

Traditional Liberal idealism lost to racism and populism

By opting for One Nation in Farrer, Angus Taylor has officially confirmed that Liberal members will actively vote One Nation in all future elections.

Similarly, Tim Wilson said the silent part loudly on the ABC, refusing to deny that the Liberal Party could exclude the One Nation National Party as a coalition partner. insider.

As the leader of a soulless handful of remnants mourning the lost political victory, it is clear that Angus Taylor and the Liberal Party leadership lack the insight (and ability) on how to take this country forward in testing global political times and bring the voters along with them.

To regain power, the Liberals are ready to abandon the National Party and openly embrace Pauline Hanson’s racist, climate-denying xenophobia and Gina Rinehart’s cult Trumpism as coalition partners.

It is becoming clear that Australian Conservatives will sell their souls to anyone to gain or maintain power; Look at the Republican Party and their relationship with Trump in the US and how that works.

It is not that far off, or apparently not that far, that Pauline Hanson founded One Nation as a minor party in the Liberal Coalition government. Don’t ask Tim or Angus.
