Dangerous driving practices continue in Munnar, five youths fined

Dangerous driving practices continue unabated in Munnar hill station. In the latest incident, which took place on Saturday morning, five youths were seen hanging from the windows and sunroof of a car moving along Gap Road of the Munnar-Bodimettu highway. Noticing the dangerous behavior, Munnar Dy.SP S. Chandrakumar stopped the vehicle and took him to Munnar police station.
Mr. Chandrakumar stated that the five youths involved in the reckless act were from Tamil Nadu.
“Two youths were leaning out of the windows of the vehicle, while three other youths were standing behind the sunroof,” the official said. “We fined the offenders and organized an awareness class for them.”
Dy.SP. he also noted that tourists primarily from Tamil Nadu and Karnataka engage in such dangerous behavior.
“Malaysian tourists are also participating in these dangerous driving practices. Police will continue strict inspections and take stringent action against criminals,” he warned.
This incident comes on the heels of another violation on Thursday, where a group of youths were found traveling dangerously in a Karnataka-registered car near Chithirapuram in Munnar. In this incident, three teenagers were standing on the car’s sunroof, one sitting in the left door window frame and the other perched on the vehicle’s hood.
According to the authorities, legal action has been initiated against these passengers.
