Danica Patrick kicks off summer by racing around Italy on a beautiful yacht, Bears fans are furious & steak!

We’re watching the Saturday Screens this morning with the sun shining, birds chirping, humidity rising and the smell of summer in the air. I can’t stop thinking about those trips. Golf challenges where your phone magically stops working for 4 1/2 glorious hours. No job interviews. No zoom. Just one with nature.

That’s what Danica Patrick did this Saturday morning. Apparently, he set sail for Italy on a yacht, doing what people do on yachts. No job interviews. There are no Slack messages to send until late Friday. He is living there life after earning a lot of money in his career.

This is how you celebrate summer. Bikinis. Shrimp buffets (or whatever seafood he eats). Midnight DJ sets in some coastal cities in Italy. Great wine. Bottomless mimosas. Sun. Surfing.

Personally, I’ll be celebrating summer this weekend by fulfilling my wedding anniversary promise to Ms. Screencaps that we would head to one of our favorite stores – a local rock store – to pick out decorative rocks for her garden. Then I’ll probably sit by the pool. I hope for hours.

There is no phone. No zoom. No slacks. These are the rules after this column is deposited.

In other news, what was that thing flying over the baseball fields last night?

Someone literally paid for a plane to hang a banner above the field for all to see that said “call a verbal diarrhea divorce lawyer.” And the plane was circling the fields.

Crazy, right? Earlier this week, a man on our local Facebook page complained about a local divorce attorney he hired to handle his divorce, but the man was angry that his attorney was trashing his ex-wife in the case. The newly divorced man was actually angry at how badly his lawyer had robbed his ex-wife.

Is that why the banner was flying last night? I don’t know. What I do know is that people seem to have some money to spend on a nice weekend getaway.

What are you watching today? It’s easy

That would be Cal Poly vs. West Virginia (noon, ESPN2), with a trip to Omaha for the Mountaineers. This would be a first in school history and a blow to Jell-O shot sales in Omaha, that’s for sure.

We need programs like West Virginia playing in Omaha in mid-June. We need them to sing John Denver’s song at least once in Omaha like the Savannah Bananas of college baseball. Imagine if 30,000 people or how many people could enter Omaha and sing along to a song released in 1971. These are the sports moments that were meant to be. Let’s see if the sports gods can turn this around on Saturday afternoon.

Golf enthusiasts share stories of hitting cars with incorrect shots

– Bill offers: There’s one for you, Joe. Years ago I was playing too Purdue University course Lafayette, Indiana with a few friends. McCormick Road runs right behind one of the holes with the green in close proximity. path. over that hole I hit a five-second shot but overcooked it and went off the green. I watched my ball hit the asphalt of the road, then bounce and crash. A red truck passing by. With a REALLY loud explosion. After the driver comes to a screeching halt, he gets out and gets angry.

My friend and I hid behind a tree so he couldn’t see who hit the ball. After looking around for a while, he gets in his car and leaves. The key to the story is this; After bouncing on the road, the ball hit a passing truck and changed direction towards the middle of the field. That’s probably why the guy left. All he saw was a golf ball in the middle of the green, and there was no way that was the ball that hit his truck, right? I kept that golf ball for a long time because it had a beautiful red paint etching on it.

I missed the birdie putt but came away with a foursome and that’s what I call quality up and down. pickup truck diversion style.

PAIGE SPIRANAC SHITS HER LATEST GOLF DRESS ON SOCIAL MEDIA, PULLS OUT IOWA FAN BRAINS AND CRAB HASH

– Eric P., who recently ripped into me for my Screencap effort only to say he was sorry, writes: I was playing in a tournament at a course down south. Seattle a few years ago. On the practice field, my playing partner was rehashing a story about how lucky I had been on an earlier trip to Vegas; Of course I denied this and said that the green zeros on the roulette table were a green light for skilled chip stackers.

So who doesn’t know that if you stack your chips in one corner of the number in question, the probability of the ball landing on your number increases by 20%? Hah.. We are at the first starting point and I hook my driver to the left, he goes over a fence towards the road. There’s a 375-foot dog leg left and it looks like it’s about to hit a truck heading away from us. As it continues down the road, the ball hits the back of the truck; it clattered around and bounced from behind, going over the fence and stopping fifty yards from the fairway.

My playing partner looked at me and congratulated me, a shot was made and we know who will win this weekend. On another note, on another trip to Vegas, we were leaving Circus Circus Steakhouse, which most people haven’t tried but don’t know it’s one of the highest rated steakhouses in Vegas, and the same friend mentioned my penchant for luck and this time all I could do was lean over and pick up the 50.00 redemption coupon. Someone had fallen off the ground and said, “So you’re saying this doesn’t require skill? I’ll pay for the taxi.”

These sound far-fetched, but I swear they are absolutely true.

– Jim in Raleigh writes: Years ago, when I was 16, I was playing in the NYS (New York State) Men’s Amateur qualifiers (I was a scratch at the time). We played in threes and the first shot was on a four-lane road to our left. The first man stands up and hangs one of the ducks on the road. We hear the windshield shatter, followed by the inevitable screech of the brakes.

He stood up again to shoot He shot three of them and did the same thing. He grabbed his bag and resigned without ever getting off the 1st inning. I had to take the next shot and blocked it for about 40 metres. It’s impossible to keep track of this!

Are you worried that the Chinese might hack your pacemaker?

– Jack in Missouri emails for the first time: I saw an article on Foxnews.com. I never believed in these Nest and similar thermostats because they allowed them to be controlled from the outside: BY THE CHINESE GOVERNMENT! and then the local power company.

Electronic door locks, Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, etc. Too many people allow devices over which they have little or no control to fill their homes. I believe Lot-Tech is the best technology. I’m worried about my pacemaker: is the telemetry function made in China and can China tell me: Have you been laid off?

– Drew in Katy, Texas, reported on smart meters and thermostats: I don’t claim to be an expert here. . . But in the mid-1980s, the company I worked for that used a significant amount of electricity in Texas signed intermittent power contracts. The company’s base electricity rate was reduced in exchange for its willingness to stop using electricity if the company requested a reduction in electricity load. Google AI gives a pretty good summary of the process if you type “industrial intermittent energy contract to save money.” BTW – I don’t ever remember our company’s power actually being cut off.

DANICA PATRICK IMPRESSED THE MAHA CROWD USING BAT DOGS AS HER NEWEST FITNESS WORKOUT AND TENNIS AS MEAT!

It is interesting to see that power distributors are now tricking individuals into signing up for intermittent power with no real benefit to the consumer. I think the larger impact will still come from shutting down large industrial users. But this would require electricity distributors to pay financial incentives for the privilege of doing so. So, as AI data centers drive U.S. electricity demand through the roof, the next question is why not require them, rather than individuals, to bear the burden of swinging on the grid? What if your child suddenly can’t use AI to do his homework so he can get to ball practice on time?

Speaking of baseball, it’s a shame the Braves don’t travel to Cincinnati as often.

– Candler in Duluth, GA writes: Hello Joe. It’s been a while, but you should know that we are still mowing the lawn on Thursdays and spreading the news of the league everywhere. It’s hard to believe it’s been five years since I started posting mowing reports and photos of my sons mowing the lawn. They’re about to be seniors, and as grandmas always tell us, it sure goes by fast.

To the reader (I think Millennial Brandon) who asked last week if he would let the kids tear up his yard playing wiffleball, they should totally let him! My boys and their friends still play wiffle ball in the backyard, and I doubt these will be their favorite memories from their growing up years.

THURSDAY NIGHT MOWER LEAGUE WANTS 40 MILLION AMERICANS TO STOP WASTING THEIR WEEKENDS ON THE LAWN

Screenshots reader Candler and his men visit Cincinnati to watch the Braves play during the 2026 season.

Candler (far right) and his boys have been a staple of the Screenshots and Thursday Night Harvest League for years. (Coverhead reader at Candler, Duluth, GA)

I was thinking of sending you this earlier in the week, but last weekend we went to watch YOUR Reds play MY Braves in Cincinnati. It was a lot of fun and we thought the basketball court overlooking the river was really cool. My sons’ best friend (in the middle of the picture) just graduated, so we made this trip his graduation celebration.

It was fun to see the mowing reports today. Suzanne continues to excel and impress! We will definitely send out a few reports this summer. The Dawgs’ first pitch is at 11am tomorrow morning and it feels great to get the yard work done and be FULLY OPEN on Saturday! Enjoy your weekend!

Kinsey: They grow really fast. There are photos in my Gmail of Candler B kids tearing up their yards with big ball games and other moments when kids were kids. This morning I realized how long I’ve been doing this on OutKick.

I even missed my sixth anniversary with the company on June 1st. If you had told me all those years ago (six years on the Internet is like 20 years of a normal career) that all this would happen to me during this time, I would have thought you were crazy.

I now have a 100 gig Gmail account that is 76% full. During those six years, I heard from tens of thousands of readers. I experienced incredible moments along the way. None of this would have been possible without the vision Clay Travis laid out for me in early 2020, when the world was about to go crazy.

What a great run this was.

SUNBURN, HIGH ELECTRIC BILLS, AND OTHER HORRIBLE THINGS THAT MAKE SUMMER QUIETLY HORRIBLE

####################

That’s it for this morning. I need to go out and #RespectSummer. You can only get so much of these in life. Think about how many June weekends you can enjoy in life. So we need to go outside, put our feet in the grass and get them wet.
