Data centre with focus on e-governance, digital inclusion to be set up in Jaipur

A state-of-the-art data center focused on “smart use” of artificial intelligence (AI) in e-governance and digital inclusion will soon be established in Jaipur. The new data center will support the Rajasthan government’s efforts to spur innovation-driven growth in which artificial intelligence is a key component.

Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw made the announcement regarding the setting up of the data center while speaking virtually at the Rajasthan Regional Artificial Intelligence Impact Conference-2026 here on Tuesday. The conference, inaugurated by Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, was held at the end of the Rajasthan DigiFest TiE Global Summit.

Mr. Vaishnaw said the IT industry is a key pillar of the national economy and India’s growing strength in technology and innovation is recognized by Stanford University’s 2025 Global AI Vitality Index, which puts the country third globally in AI competition.

The Union Minister said that a recently launched program to train youth in AI skills has benefited a large number of youth in Rajasthan. He also announced a plan to train 5,000 youths in electronics manufacturing in collaboration with industry bodies in the state.

Chief Minister Mr. Sharma said the state’s newly introduced Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Policy will help accelerate public service delivery, bring transparency and make it citizen-centric. “Rajasthan is trying to position itself as an emerging technology hub through innovation, skill and investment-led growth,” he said.

Mr. Sharma said the new policy will improve administrative efficiency and make it easier to report and resolve cyber crimes. It announced plans to establish an Artificial Intelligence Center of Excellence, promote AI education in schools, colleges, industrial training institutes and polytechnic colleges, and establish advanced skills centers to enable young people to tap into new opportunities.
