Major search launched for Perth woman missing at Gap Natural Bridge near Albany

A massive search has been launched on Western Australia’s south coast after a Perth woman disappeared from one of the state’s most popular coastal lookouts.
Police are urging the public to come forward with information about 51-year-old Naomi Marie Duckett, who was last seen late Thursday morning at the Gap Natural Bridge in Torndirrup National Park near Albany.
Albany Sergeant Vaughn Mackay said Ms Duckett was seen in the area at around 11.45am on April 2 and was believed to have traveled alone from the Perth metropolitan area to Albany the previous day.
Authorities have closed public access to The Gap while extensive searches continue on land and at sea.
Local police, the Police Air Wing, drones and water and land teams, including Water Police, are combing the rugged coastline.
The Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions and the City of Albany are also assisting with the operation.

“We currently have a helicopter in the area along with two marine vessels,” Sergeant Mackay said.
Ms Duckett is stated to be approximately 171 cm tall and of medium build. He was last seen wearing glasses, a dark green sweater, light-colored pants and black shoes.
“Ms Duckett’s welfare is our main priority at this time,” Sergeant Mackay said.

“We would very much like to hear from anyone who may have seen Ms Duckett in the area. [or] may have any information about his whereabouts.
“Gap Natural Bridge is a frequently visited natural tourism spot.
“Certainly there would have been people there when he arrived, and certainly during the day, although we suspect he may have been in that park.”

Police are also appealing for anyone who may have seen Ms Duckett’s belongings, including a brown bag, to contact them urgently. Investigators believe he was not traveling by car.
Anyone with information on his possible whereabouts is asked to get in touch. Crime Stoppers online or call 1800 333 000.
