Lauren Silverman reveals she felt like the scarlet woman when she fell pregnant with Simon Cowell’s baby while married as she says ‘I caused it and I deserved it’
Lauren Silverman has spoken with refreshing honesty about becoming pregnant with Simon Cowell’s baby 12 years ago while married to Andrew Silverman.
Lauren, 48, said: happy mother She said that she felt like a red woman, but she brought everything on herself and therefore deserved this negativity.
The socialite and Simon’s relationship was said to have begun while she and her 49-year-old husband were on holiday in Barbados. She and Andrew had a 20-year-old son named Adam.
Lauren told Giovanna Fletcher, 41: ‘What I really wanted to do was protect Adam through all of this. It was difficult because the conditions were very difficult.
‘Protecting and protecting Adam was my priority and it was difficult. I probably couldn’t experience the joy of that pregnancy, especially in the first days.
‘And unfortunately probably not for the entire pregnancy. I was just fight or flight… Just trying to get through it and wake up every day and try not to fall apart.
“I caused this and I deserve it,” Lauren Silverman said on the Happy Mom podcast, explaining that she felt like the ginger woman who got pregnant with Simon Cowell’s baby while married.
Lauren and Simon’s relationship was said to have begun while she and her husband of ten years, Andrew Silverman, 49, were on holiday in Barbados.
He said: ‘I felt like I was walking around with a scarlet letter on me and that was the way people looked at me everywhere I went.’
‘Because it was so violent. You have to think, everywhere I went there were people… I was still in New York and I was still going back and forth.
‘If I had to describe it, I felt like I was walking around with a scarlet letter everywhere I went, because New York seems like a big city but it’s really small, especially where I lived, it was like the Upper East Side.
‘That was the way people looked at me and I was on the cover of every magazine and there were stories about it. It was very bad.
‘I never want to be a complainer or whiner. I have nothing to complain about. I was the one who caused this, like I deserved it.
‘This doesn’t define me, but it did for a while.’
Giovanna said: ‘I think that’s why you were getting emotional. I guess you thought people thought a certain way about you…’
“Absolutely,” he said. ‘And I don’t blame them. ‘I would think the same.’
Andrew soon filed for divorce, citing adultery as the reason for the separation, and Lauren and Simon became a couple and got engaged in December 2021.
During the chat, Giovanna also asked Lauren: ‘So what was it like finding out you were pregnant with Eric?’
Lauren, who now uses the name Lauren Cowell, said: ‘There’s a lot of emotions that come with it because it was like the end of my marriage.’
In 2013, Simon said about the incident: ‘I let a friend down and I feel bad about it. But the good thing is, I’m having a baby and I never thought I would.’
A year later, Andrew branded the pain of losing his wife to Simon ‘a very difficult time in my life’, but added that he ‘learned a lot’.
Speaking to the New York Observer, the property entrepreneur said: ‘I’m an ordinary person, not a tabloid thing. It was a fascinating, unexpected and shocking experience.
‘Being the center of public attention is not something I envy. This has never been my thing. I learned a lot about myself. . . the importance of family. ‘My focus has been on my son throughout this entire ordeal.’
Simon said in an interview in 2013: ‘I let a friend down and I feel bad about it. But the good thing is that I’m going to have a baby and I never thought I would.’

And Lauren was upset with Giovanna when she told how music mogul Simon reacted to the birth of his only child.
She said: ‘Simon was very emotional and I just remember; I remember thinking at that moment, God, your life is about to change and you have no idea what’s going to happen to you.
‘There was no way he could know because he was basically someone who had everything under control and had his own ways.
‘And I think becoming a father has completely changed his life.’
Foster parents Simon and Lauren banned their son from social media, with Lauren calling for urgent action to make the internet safer for children.
On Monday, Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced sweeping reforms to protect children online with measures dubbed the ‘Australia plus’ package.
The UK will follow Australia’s example in raising the minimum age to 16 for sites such as TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, X, YouTube and Snapchat.
The crackdown will go further than Australia’s by taking “world-leading” action on gaming and livestreaming platforms to prevent strangers from contacting children.
