As flood relief, Amit Shah approves advance release of ₹1,950 crore to Karnataka, Maharashtra

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has approved the advance payment of ₹ 1,950.80 crore as the second installment of the central share of the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) to the governments of Karnataka and Maharashtra for 2025-26.

Of the total amount, ₹384.40 crore has been approved for Karnataka and ₹1,566.40 crore for Maharashtra, helping the two states provide emergency relief assistance to people affected by extremely heavy rainfall and floods during the southwest monsoon this year, an official statement said.

The statement said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the guidance of the Home Minister, the central government is fully committed to provide all possible assistance to the states affected by floods, landslides and heavy rains.

This year, the Center has provided funds of ₹ 13,603.20 crore to 27 States under SDRF and ₹ 2,189.28 crore to 15 States under National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF).

The statement also stated that 4,571.30 billion rupees have been released from the State Disaster Mitigation Fund (SDMF) to 21 States and 372.09 billion rupees have been released from the National Disaster Mitigation Fund (NDMF) to nine states.

The central government also provided all logistical assistance, including deployment of essential teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Army and Air Force and supported all flood, landslide and heavy rain affected States.

During this year’s monsoon, a maximum of 199 teams of NDRF were deployed in 30 States and UTs for rescue and relief operations.
