DC instructs officials to make alternative arrangements for public transport during KSRTC employees’ strike on May 20

In view of the statewide indefinite strike declared by the KSRTC Staff and Labor Federation from May 20, Mysuru Deputy Commissioner G. Lakshmikanth Reddy chaired the officials’ meeting here on Monday to take necessary steps for alternative transport arrangements to ensure that the public is not inconvenienced.
At the meeting, which was also attended by representatives of private buses and other transport owners’ associations, Mr. Reddy stated that in KSRTC’s Mysuru Urban Division, 534 buses were operating at around 517 tariffs, while in Mysuru Rural Division, 720 buses were operating at approximately 691 tariffs.
He said that if KSRTC employees do not operate buses from May 20, route maps should be prepared.
KSRTC, Transport Department and Police Department officials should work together and ensure that public transport services are not disrupted.
He said that the details of the private buses, minibuses and maxi taxis in the district should be taken and a list should be prepared with the trip details, so that arrangements can be made without inconveniencing the public.
He said that information regarding the services of private buses, maxi taxis and minibuses should be collected at the control rooms at KSRTC Suburban and City Bus stands and submitted to senior officials.
In the earlier strike organized by KSRTC employees, the situation was managed without causing any inconvenience to the public. He said a similar plan should be made this time too.
Mr. Reddy instructed private buses and minibuses not to take advantage of the strike by collecting excess fares from the public and only fixed fares should be collected.
He directed the officials to deploy necessary police force and make security arrangements at Suburban Bus Stand, City Bus Stand, taluk floor and other bus stands. He warned that strict action would be taken during the strike if anyone creates a situation that leads to stone pelting or any untoward incident.
Mysuru Inspector Mallikarjun Baladandi, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime and Traffic) Sundar Raj, Regional Transport Officers Chouhan and Madhuri, KSRTC Divisional Controllers viz. Veeresh from Urban division and Srinivas from Rural division and members of private vehicle associations were present in the meeting.
