Deal Reportedly ‘Within Reach’ to End Government Shutdown

A deal to end the 40-day government shutdown is reportedly “within reach.” A new report from Axios.

Citing sources from both parties, the Axios report said Senate Democrats are ready to introduce a package of bills to end this divide. According to Axios, the procedural motion that would allow for a vote on these bills is expected to be supported by at least 10 Senate Democrats; It adds that the deal would also include a vote in December on extending Obamacare tax credits.

The consequences of the closure have begun to increase in recent days. The cut to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) affected 42 million Americans who receive SNAP benefits.
