Trump threatens 100% tariff on countries putting ‘Digital Services Tax on American Companies’

President Donald Trump threatened on Friday to impose a “100% TARIFF” on the goods of any country that imposes a digital services tax on US companies.

“This TARIFF will replace Trade Agreements with the country, whether implemented, signed or not,” Trump said. Real Social post.

Trump has previously vowed to retaliate against countries that impose digital services taxes, claiming they are unfairly targeting US tech giants. Last year, Trump vowed to cut off all trade talks with Canada over his proposed version of the tax. Ottawa later repealed the tax shortly before it came into effect.

Digital services taxes are generally structured to apply only to the world’s largest and most established technology companies, such as US-based Meta, Alphabet and Amazon.
