Goodall has gained the best civilian honor from many countries, including England, France, Japan and Tanzania. In 2025, he was awarded the Presidential Medal by President Joe Biden and won the prestigious Templeon Award in 2021.

“The groundbreaking discoveries changed the understanding of humanity about the role of each other in a connected world, and his advocacy pointed to a greater purpose for our species for life on this planet,” he said.

Goodall was also selected as the United Nations Peace Ambassador and published a large number of books, including best -selling autobiography. Reasons for hope.

Born in London in 1934, Goodall said he started when he learned to crawl his interest in animals. In his book, In the shadow of manHe described an early memory of hiding in a Henhouse to see a chicken lay eggs. He had been there for so long that his mother reported that he was missing to the police.

He took his first book – Edgar Rice Burroughs’ Monkeys Tarzan – When he decided about his future at the age of 10 and soon: Live with wild animals in Africa.

This plan remained with him through a secretary course of 18 and two different tortures. And in 1957, he accepted the invitation of a friend in Kenya to travel to a farm owned by his parents.

There he met Louis Leakey, the famous anthropologist and Paleontologist at a Natural History Museum in Nairobi, and he worked as an assistant secretary.

Three years later, although Goodall did not have a university degree, Leakey asked if he was currently interested in reading chimpanzees in Tanzania. In 1997, the AP said he chose to “because he wanted a clear mind”.

The start was full of complications. The British authorities insisted that he was a companion, so he brought his mother at first. Chimps escaped if it was 460 meters. He also spent weeks of what he believed to have malaria without any medicine to fight him.

But in the end he was able to gain the trust of animals. In the autumn of 1960, he observed that David Graybeard made a vehicle from the branches and used it for fish termites from a nest. Previously, only people were believed to produce and use vehicles.

He also found that chimpanzees have individual personalities and that people shared feelings of pleasure, joy, sadness and fear. The ties between mothers and babies documented their sister competition and male domination. In other words, he found that there was no sharp line between people and the animal kingdom.

In the following years, he discovered that chimpanzees entered some kind of war, and in 1987 he and his staff adopted a 3 -year -old orphan orphan who was not closely related.

Goodall, starting from 1961, took dozens of grants from National Geographic Society during the field research term.

In 1966, he received a doctoral degree in the field of etiology – he became one of the few people who were admitted to Cambridge University as a doctoral candidate without a university degree.

In a conference in 1986, after watching a disturbing experiment film on laboratory animals, his work became more global advocacy.

“I knew I had to do something,” he said to the AP in 1997. “It was time to pay back.”

When the Covid-19 pandem was hit in 2020 and stopped his activities, he began to podcast from his childhood house in England. Dozens of Jane Goodall Hopecast The departments published their discussions with guests such as writer Margaret Atwood and Marine biologist Ayana Elizabeth Johnson.

“If someone wants to reach people, if a person wants to change attitudes, you should reach the heart,” he said. “You can reach the heart by telling stories, not by discussing people’s minds.”

In the following years, he returned to more aggressive tactics by saying that they could recoil by climatic activists and criticized the messages of “glory and apocalypse” because it caused young people to lose their hopes.

Until the 2024 elections, he founded “Nature for Nature olan, an attempt to encourage people to choose candidates to protect the natural world.

In addition, he established a strong social media presence on the need to end millions of followers to end the factory farming or to present clues to avoid paralysis by a climate crisis.

Recommendation: “Focus on the present time and the effect will occur over time.”
