A massive fire broke out in a five-storey hostel in south Delhi district on Wednesday, June 3, 2026. It was stated that most of the dead were foreign nationals. Many injured people were taken to hospitals. “Foreigners came mostly from Central Asian and African countries,” officials said.
It is stated that the death toll may increase as the condition of at least 26 people is said to be critical. Among those rescued are relatives of patients receiving treatment at a nearby private hospital.

The fire broke out at Flourish Stay B&B in Hauz Rani, a crowded area of Malviya Nagar. Earlier, authorities said the fire started at the nearby Lemon Green Restaurant around 8:30 a.m., but police later said the fire started in the hotel building.
According to fire officer AK Malik, the building has a basement, ground floor and five upper floors. While a restaurant was operated on the ground floor, the rest of the building was used as a hotel. “According to police sources, the hotel has only one entrance and exit. The No Objection to Fire Certificate (NOC) is on the scanner,” they said.
