Delhi NCR Weather Update Today: Rain brings relief as IMD predicts thunderstorms; temperature to touch 41°C this week

According to the latest weather forecast in Delhi, the city is expected to witness very light to light rains accompanied by thunderstorms on Monday. Although heavy rains will give a short-term breather to the heat, temperatures are expected to remain high for the next few days.
IMD has predicted that Delhi’s maximum temperature may reach around 39°C on Monday, while the minimum temperature is expected to hover around 26°C. Weather experts also stated that daytime temperatures may rise further and remain between 39°C and 41°C until Tuesday.
Delhi on Sunday recorded a maximum temperature of 38.5°C at the Safdarjung observatory, which is considered the city’s main weather station. The reading was 1.4 degrees Celsius below the seasonal average. Maximum temperatures at various weather monitoring stations ranged from 38.4°C to 39.1°C.
Among the major stations, Ridge recorded the highest maximum temperature at 39.1°C, followed by Lodi Road at 38.7°C and Palam at 38.6°C. Ayanagar recorded a relatively lower maximum temperature of 38.4°C, which is three degrees below the normal level for this time of the year.
Minimum temperatures across Delhi ranged between 23.4°C and 26.2°C. While Safdarjung recorded the highest minimum temperature of 26.2°C, the Ridge remained the coldest with a minimum of 23.4°C. Other stations, including Palam and Lodi Road, reported minimum temperatures of 25.6°C and 24.6°C respectively. The relative humidity level stood at 61 percent at 8:30 a.m., contributing to the sweltering conditions experienced by residents despite the rain.
Meanwhile, Delhi’s air quality remained in the ‘fair’ category. Data released by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) showed that the Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 151 on Sunday evening. An AQI between 101 and 200 falls into the medium category and indicates acceptable air quality for most people; however, sensitive individuals may experience minor health problems.
With rain, thunderstorms and rising temperatures forecast in the coming days, residents are advised to stay aware of the latest weather warnings and take necessary precautions while commuting to work.
